Choose mall screens by viewing position, ambient light, content and operating responsibility. Separate shopfront, concourse and service zones instead of specifying one display for every location. Test Arabic and English content on site. Make installation access, content approval and recovery part of the purchase rather than leaving them for opening day.
Create a zone schedule
Walk the site at more than one time of day. Record the direction of sunlight, reflective surfaces, the audience path and the nearest safe service access. A window display seen from outside has a different exposure from a display inside a shaded concourse. Note mounting height and whether a reader is moving or waiting. Label measurements and observations separately, and list the checks still to complete before procurement becomes a contractual requirement.
Test the content at the viewing point
Use a real menu, offer or directory rather than a full-screen demonstration video. The smallest price, Arabic line and destination name matter more than an attractive image at close range. Agree a content template that protects reading space when both languages appear together. A portrait campaign should be designed for portrait playback; rotating a landscape image is not a bilingual layout strategy. Ask the supplier to demonstrate the specified orientation.
Treat the rollout as an operating network
For multiple shops, decide whether content is central, local or a mix. Document approval authority and the effect of a local internet outage. Identify who can isolate a faulty screen without affecting neighboring locations. Include cable access, spare-player configuration and operating documentation in the scope. Compare total responsibilities across proposals; a low panel price can hide a missing mounting, networking or service task.
Compare requirements
| Project condition | Focus | Evidence to request |
|---|---|---|
| Shopfront | Sun and reflections | Site readability and installation limits |
| Concourse | Moving visitors | Short messages and viewing positions |
| Service counter | Waiting visitors | Readable bilingual details and ownership |
Procurement checklist
- Survey each distinct exposure zone.
- Approve a bilingual sample playlist.
- Confirm orientation in the model documentation.
- Assign campaign and service owners.
A practical acceptance task
Play the approved campaign in one pilot zone during ordinary opening hours. Ask a person unfamiliar with the content to read the key message from the intended position. Disconnect the content connection in a controlled test and verify the agreed fallback.
