Site observation notebook

A working notebook for the person at the site and the team writing the brief. Record observations, their context and what still needs verification.

Record the visit date and relevant conditions. For a planned visit, complete this field when you reach the site.

Notes stay in this tab session when storage is available. No upload or message is sent. A filled note is an observation, not a passed inspection. Privacy

01 Viewing positions and content

A display is part of a visitor’s route. Stand where the information will actually be read, not only beside the proposed mounting point.

Note standing or seated positions, approach directions, obstructions and a reference to a marked plan. Separate measured distances from estimates.

Use a representative Arabic and English sample where possible. Record the sample, reader position and difficulty. If no display is available, note that a demonstration is still required.

02 Sunlight, reflections and glazing

The same location can change through the day. A single visit does not establish the full exposure or a product’s thermal limits.

Record visit time, orientation, shade and reflections. Identify any intervening glass. Link a photo or plan reference without treating a phone image as a calibrated luminance measurement.

Describe indoor or exterior placement, dust, moisture and nearby heat sources. Note missing measurements and who should obtain exact-model installation limits.

03 Find the service route

Plan how the complete system will be reached, isolated and restored. A proposed mounting surface is not evidence of structural approval.

Record service access, working-hour restrictions, clearance and the route for replacement equipment. Flag mounting and safe-access approval for a qualified project professional.

Record planned power and data locations, the network contact and access restrictions. Include the checks to arrange with the responsible professionals. Keep electrical equipment closed while completing this notebook.

04 Name the operating owner

A screen needs an owner after handover. Include the people who publish, update routes and respond when information is wrong or unavailable.

Record Arabic and English content owners, naming conventions, approval steps and an accessible alternative for essential information. Note unresolved responsibilities.

Record intended operating hours, the incident contact and a proposed alternative information channel. Identify which outage and recovery tasks still need an agreed demonstration.
